HEAT CONDUCTION

DEFINITION OF HEAT CONDUCTION : -
Thermal conduction is the transfer of heat by microscopic collisions of particles and movement of electrons within a body. The microscopically colliding particles, that include molecules, atoms and electrons, transfer disorganized microscopic kinetic and potential energy, jointly known as internal energy

DEFINITION : -

Convection is the process by which heat travels through air, water, and other gases and liquids.

ConductionConduction transfers heat via direct molecular collision. An area of greater kinetic energy will transfer thermal energy to an area with lower kinetic energy. Higher-speed particles will collide with slower speed particles. The slower-speed particles will increase in kinetic energy as a result. Conduction is the most common form of heat transfer and occurs via physical contact. Examples would be to place your hand against a window or place metal into an open flame.

The energy flow goes from the warm medium to the cold medium through the heat transfer area of the BPHE. In addition to the size of the heat transfer area, the amount of energy transported also depends on the heat transfer coefficient and the temperature difference between the two sides. This relation is described in the heat transfer equation

Even though your jacket is light as a feather (more accurately, many thousands of feathers), your body can stay toasty warm. That's because the feathers create millions of tiny air pockets, and air has excellent insulating value - about R-7 per inch. Dr. Energy Saver dealers are fully trained and certified in the workings of insulation and heat transfer in your home. convection is one of the three modes of heat transfer; radiation and conduction being the other two. Convection is the movement of molecules within fluids (liquids or gases). Convective heat transfer is caused by molecular motion in fluids. When the molecules are heated, their temperature increases and they tend to move away from each other. It is due to this movement that heat transfer takes

The body uses four mechanism for temperature regulation: convection, radiation, conduction, evaporation. Of these, we rely most heavily on evaporation to regulate body temperature through sweat

Convection for temperature regulation

Convection is defined as: “heat transferred by mass motion of a fluid, such as air or water, when the heated fluid moves away from the source of heat, taking heat energy with it.” For our purposes the source of heat is our body, so convection is heat removed by air or water passing over our body removing the heat as it goes. Convection naturally occurs as the athlete moves, by running, riding etc, through the air, or when a breeze is blowing.
